Hi, i am planing to decorate my dry kitchen. But in the middle of the kitchen there is a column. I want to put up a island and make use of this column. Do you have any ideal to design the island which incorporate with the island? thanks

i could really use more information on this column. is it a decorative column or more of a pole ? however i am sure it could be used not seeing or knowing your layout i would think you could either build an island around this . depending on your space i would let it be on one corner of the island rather than in the middle . not knowing if it is medal or wood or if it is round or square you can go to your local builders supply and find the necessary ornate pieces to enhance it somewhat. by having it on the corner and painting it the same color as your cabinet or the most dominate color in your room it would blend more than stand out. good luck

Does the column already have a drywall chase around it? You could build the island around it and mount the phone/notepad on the chase to put it in a central location.

Make sure to use all the space in the island for storage, drawers, etc.
